A GregMat subscription costs $11.99 a month for GregMat Plus, or $14.99 a month with the PrepSwift review videos, for anyone subscribing today, read from GregMat's help center on October 12, 2026. Paying for six months at once costs $59.95 or $74.95, about 17% less. Subscribers who started before GregMat's July 15 price increase keep the old $7.99 and $9.99 rates. There are no refunds and no score guarantee.
GregMat is one of the cheapest full GRE courses you can buy, and that is exactly why the price question matters: you are comparing a few dollars a month against a $179 Magoosh plan or a $1,000-plus live course, and the details decide which one is cheaper for your timeline. The review pages that rank for this question still mostly say $7.99. That was the price, and it is still the price for people who were already subscribed. It is not what a new subscriber pays at checkout.
GregMat Plus price by plan
| Plan | Monthly | 6 months prepaid | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| GregMat Plus | $11.99 | $59.95 | All live classes, every class recording, study plans, Quant and Verbal problem sets, mini exams, mock sections, vocab tools, apps |
| GregMat Plus with PrepSwift | $14.99 | $74.95 | Everything in Plus, plus short PrepSwift videos with quizzes for people short on time |
| Old rate (existing subscribers only) | $7.99 or $9.99 | Not offered to new subscribers | Same product, kept as long as the subscription never lapses |
| GMAT or TOEFL add-on | $3 each | Not listed | Separate subscriptions, unaffected by the increase |
Monthly billing renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel from your profile page at any time and keep access until the end of the cycle you paid for, and your quiz history is kept if you come back. GregMat also sells one-month and three-month plans through a separate services page that takes PayPal and Google Pay; those do not renew, so you extend them by hand.
What changed on July 15
GregMat raised prices for new subscribers on July 15: GregMat Plus went from $7.99 to $11.99 a month and the PrepSwift bundle from $9.99 to $14.99. GregMat's own help article calls the increase "steep" and says it pays for more support and content staff. Existing subscribers kept the old rate under what GregMat calls a price lock, with no time limit, as long as the subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, you pay the new price. There is a grace period of about two days, so a short gap caused by a failed card does not cost you the old rate.
The practical rule for someone on the old rate who plans a retake: keeping GregMat Plus through three quiet months costs $23.97 at $7.99. Cancelling saves that, but every month after you return costs $4 more. If you expect to study more than about six further months in total, keep the subscription running.
Is the 6-month GregMat plan worth it?
Only if you will genuinely study for five months or more. The six-month plan is $59.95, which is exactly five monthly payments of $11.99. GregMat describes it as a 17% discount and "equivalent to getting a free month", and it is the only discount GregMat offers. There are no student, military or coupon codes. The catch is that there are no refunds either, so prepaying six months for a test that is ten weeks away costs you $59.95 against $35.97 on monthly billing.
| Prep length | Monthly billing | 6-month plan | Better buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 months | $23.98 | $59.95 | Monthly |
| 3 months | $35.97 | $59.95 | Monthly |
| 5 months | $59.95 | $59.95 | Either |
| 6 months | $71.94 | $59.95 | 6-month plan |
Can I get a refund from GregMat?
Generally no. GregMat's billing FAQ says it does not refund subscription fees, including when somebody forgets to cancel the recurring charge, and that an account is blocked if you file a chargeback. It does ask you to contact support if you cancelled before the billing date and were charged anyway. GregMat also makes no score promise: its own FAQ answers "Will this raise my GRE score guaranteed?" with a plain no. At $11.99 the risk is small, but set a calendar reminder to cancel the day after your test.
GregMat vs Magoosh on cost
Over a typical three-month prep, GregMat costs about $36 and Magoosh Premium costs $179 for six months. Over five or six months the gap narrows to $60 against $179. What the extra money buys at Magoosh is different, not just more: 1,600-plus questions with a video explanation for each, eight sections of licensed official ETS questions, practice tests with a score predictor, a 7-day refund and a 5-point money-back guarantee for retakers who scored 320 or below. GregMat's strength is teaching, especially Verbal strategy, through live classes and a large archive of recordings. We broke down every Magoosh plan, and who its guarantee actually covers, on our Magoosh GRE price and plan guide.
| Option | Price | Access | Refund or guarantee |
|---|---|---|---|
| GregMat Plus | $11.99 a month or $59.95 for 6 | Monthly or 6 months | No refunds, no score guarantee |
| Magoosh GRE Premium | $179 | 6 months | 7-day refund, +5 points or money back for retakers |
| Achievable GRE | $199 once | 12 months | Money-back guarantee, +4 to +8 points |
| Manhattan Prep on demand | $299 to $499 | Varies | Higher Score Guarantee, conditions apply |
Prices were read from each vendor's own site on October 12, 2026. Add ETS's $249 test fee to any of them; a first attempt with three months of GregMat comes to about $285.
Is GregMat worth it for the GRE?
For most self-studiers, yes, as long as you know what you are buying. You get a teacher, not a test simulator. The classes are where GregMat earns its reputation, and you can watch them live or work through the recordings, including on the mobile app with offline downloads. If you learn by watching and then testing yourself, you can turn a recorded class into a quick multiple-choice quiz and check what stuck before moving on. What GregMat does not give you is a large adaptive question bank with analytics. Most students pair it with ETS's official POWERPREP tests, and many add a question source for the final month.
Where Aspirants.ai fits next to GregMat
The usual gap in a GregMat prep shows up in the last few weeks: you have done the problem sets and mini exams, you recognize the questions, and you need new ones on the exact topics that keep costing you points. Aspirants.ai writes fresh GRE-style Quant and Verbal questions on your weakest topics, explains every answer choice, and answers follow-up questions at any hour. It costs more than GregMat, $24 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month, so it is not a replacement for Greg's classes. It is the practice layer once your bank runs dry. You can try it on the GRE practice test page, and if you are still deciding which score to aim for, our guide to what a good GRE score is lists the targets by program type.
