The best PANCE review course for most PA students is a cheap all-access membership for breadth plus one premium question bank for the last six weeks. Read from each vendor's site on October 14, 2026, Smarty PANCE costs $79 for a year, Blueprint's former Rosh Review PANCE Qbank $259 to $289, UWorld's PA QBank from $309 and Hippo's AAPA PANCE and PANRE Review $495. The NCCPA exam fee comes on top, and prep providers currently quote $550.
Every list of PANCE courses you will find is written by one of the companies on it, and none of them puts the prices side by side. That is the comparison a PA student actually needs, because the difference between the cheapest and the most expensive serious option is more than $400, and the expensive one is not automatically the better buy. Below are the four courses that come up in nearly every class group chat, what each one costs today, what you get for the money and who each one suits.

Smarty PANCE is the best value
Smarty PANCE sells passes, not subscriptions, and all four unlock the same content: a 5,000+ question QBank with analytics by organ system, 14 NCCPA blueprint courses, five 225-question practice exams, a 300-question timed virtual PANCE, seven End of Rotation exams, audio reviews and flashcards. The one-year pass is $79, only $14 more than three months, which makes it the obvious pick if you are still in your clinical year or want room for a retake. The refund terms are the most generous of the group: a full refund within 60 days for any reason, and a refund or 12 more months free if you fail the PANCE or PANRE. The explanations are shorter and plainer than UWorld's or Blueprint's, and that is the honest trade for the price. We broke the four passes down in our Smarty PANCE price breakdown, including when the $99 ReelDx pass is worth it.
Blueprint's former Rosh Review bank has the strongest explanations
Rosh Review's PANCE bank is now sold by Blueprint Prep, at $259 for three months or $289 for twelve, with about 3,800 NCCPA-formatted questions. Each explanation ends with a Rapid Review recap and a One Step Further question, and the analytics compare you with other PA students using the bank. Twelve months is the right length for almost everyone: it is $30 more than three and covers a retake, since NCCPA allows only one attempt in any 90-day period. Read the fine print, though. Blueprint lists its PA Qbanks as final sale outside the pass guarantee, and that guarantee is tied to finishing the bank. The full tier list, bundles and tutoring prices are in our Rosh Review PANCE price guide.
UWorld PA is the choice if you already trust UWorld
UWorld's PA QBank starts at $309 and lists 2,050+ case-based questions with detailed, illustrated rationales, 1,500 flashcards, a medical library and performance tracking by topic. Expert-narrated videos are an add-on through QBank Plus. It is the smallest bank of the four, which matters less than it sounds if you plan to do every question twice, and students who used UWorld for didactic exams often stick with it out of familiarity. Its refund policy is pro-rated: refunds are considered for subscriptions longer than 30 days, are reduced by the days elapsed or the share of questions used, whichever is higher, and carry a 10% processing fee.
Hippo is a review course first and a question bank second
Hippo Education's AAPA PANCE and PANRE Review plus Qbank costs $495 for a year, discounted from $620 on its own page. It is built around 63+ hours of video and written content made with AAPA, with a 2,250+ question adaptive Qbank on top and up to 262 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. That CME count is why Hippo is popular with practicing PA-Cs preparing for PANRE, who need the credits anyway. For a new graduate the lectures are useful if you need to rebuild content you never mastered; if you need volume, the money buys more questions elsewhere. There is a one-day free trial before you pay.
What PANCE prep really costs in total
The course is the smaller part of the bill. You pay NCCPA when you apply to sit the PANCE, and the figure quoted by prep providers today is $550 per attempt. Here is what common plans cost in the first year once the exam is included.
| Plan | Prep cost | With one PANCE attempt | With a retake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smarty PANCE One Year alone | $79 | $629 | $1,179 |
| Smarty PANCE plus Blueprint 12-month Qbank | $368 | $918 | $1,468 |
| UWorld PA QBank alone | From $309 | From $859 | From $1,409 |
| Hippo Review plus Qbank alone | $495 | $1,045 | $1,595 |
| Hippo plus Blueprint live course | $875 | $1,425 | $1,975 |
Two things stand out. A retake costs another full exam fee, so spending an extra $200 on the right second bank is cheap insurance. And because three of these products give a year of access, the retake column only adds the exam fee, not a second course.
Which PANCE review course should you buy
- On a tight budget or still in rotations: Smarty PANCE One Year at $79. It covers the EOR exams now and the PANCE later.
- Want the most thorough explanations: Blueprint's 12-month PANCE Qbank at $289, ideally on top of Smarty PANCE.
- Learn best from lectures, or need CME: Hippo at $495, then add a question bank if you run out of new questions.
- Need structure in the last week: Blueprint's four-day live course at $380, which includes 570 practice questions and a mock PANCE.
- Already finished a bank and seeing repeats: a source of new questions, which is where Aspirants.ai comes in.
If you also want a visual mnemonic library for pharmacology and micro, see our Sketchy PA vs Picmonic price comparison. It is a supplement, not a replacement for one of the banks above.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best PANCE review course?
For most students the best PANCE review course is a combination: Smarty PANCE at $79 a year for breadth and End of Rotation exams, plus Blueprint's former Rosh Review Qbank at $289 for detailed explanations in the final weeks. That pairing costs $368, less than Hippo alone, and gives you over 8,000 questions across two banks.
How much does PANCE prep cost?
PANCE prep costs between $79 and about $500 for a single course, read from vendor sites on October 14, 2026: Smarty PANCE $79 a year, Blueprint $259 to $289, UWorld from $309 and Hippo $495. Add the NCCPA application fee, quoted by prep providers at $550, and most students spend $600 to $1,100 in total.
Is UWorld or Rosh better for the PANCE?
Rosh, now sold by Blueprint, has the bigger bank, about 3,800 questions against UWorld's 2,050+, and costs less at $289 for a year against UWorld's $309 starting price. UWorld's explanations are more visual. Students who used UWorld through didactics often prefer it for familiarity; on questions per dollar, Blueprint wins.
Is Smarty PANCE enough to pass the PANCE?
It can be. Smarty PANCE covers the full NCCPA blueprint with courses, a 5,000+ question QBank and full-length practice exams, and it refunds you or extends access for 12 months if you fail. Many students still add one premium bank near the exam for harder vignettes and longer explanations.
Which PANCE review course has the highest pass rate?
None of them publishes an audited pass rate. Smarty PANCE says users have a very high pass rate, and the others publish testimonials, but these are self-reported figures from people who chose to answer. A better signal is the refund policy: Smarty PANCE refunds a failed exam without a printed completion condition, while Blueprint ties its guarantee to finishing the bank.
Do I need a live PANCE review course?
Most students do not. Live courses like Blueprint's four-day $380 program help if you struggle to study without a schedule or want a final structured push. If you study well alone, the same money buys a second question bank, which does more for most scores.
When the bank starts repeating
Every one of these products has a fixed bank, and by the second pass you are recognizing questions instead of solving them. That is when your dashboard stops predicting your score. Aspirants.ai writes new PANCE-style clinical vignettes on the organ systems where you are weakest, explains every wrong answer and answers follow-up questions at any hour. It costs from $24 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month, cancel any time. You can try it on our PANCE practice questions page, and if you are wondering how much practice is enough, our breakdown of how hard the PANCE is covers the pass rate and the passing score.
Once you pass, the next big decision is your first job offer, and new PAs leave real money on the table by accepting the first number. If that is coming up, it helps to prepare how you will negotiate the offer before you sit down with the recruiter.
