For MCAT practice alone, Blueprint is cheaper: $299 buys six months of its Practice Tests and Qbank (5,000+ questions, five full-length exams plus one free), while six months of the UWorld MCAT QBank costs $389 for 3,000+ questions. For a full course, UWorld is cheaper: its Core Prep Course with books is $599 for 90 days, and Blueprint's Self-Paced course was advertised from $999. Buy UWorld if you learn from explanations and want books; buy Blueprint if you want more full-length exams per dollar. Prices were read from both vendors on September 27, 2026.
UWorld and Blueprint are the two third-party MCAT resources most premeds end up choosing between, usually after they have already decided to buy the official AAMC material. The pages that rank for this comparison are affiliate reviews, and several quote old prices (one still gives UWorld's six-month QBank as "about $390" without the course tiers that now sit above it). This article uses the current vendor figures and ends with a straight recommendation for each kind of buyer.
UWorld vs Blueprint MCAT price
| What you buy | UWorld MCAT | Blueprint MCAT |
|---|---|---|
| Question bank and practice tests | QBank $339 (90 days), $389 (180), $439 (360) | Practice Tests and Qbank $99 a month or $299 for 6 months |
| Course with books, self-paced | Core Prep Course $599, $649 or $699 | Self-Paced course from $999 (regular $1,499) |
| Course with videos and extras | Comprehensive Prep Course $1,199, $1,449 or $1,549 | Live Online from $1,999; 515+ course from $2,399 (regular $2,999) |
| Books alone | UBooks $289 with 180 days digital | Included in courses |
| Free trial | 7 days of the Comprehensive course, no card | Free account with one full-length exam |
| Refunds | Within 1 week, 10% used max, 10% fee | Practice test sales are final |
Two lines in that table decide most purchases. At the practice-only level, Blueprint's $299 six-month plan is $90 cheaper than UWorld's $389 180-day QBank and comes with more full-length exams. At the course level the order flips: UWorld Core at $599 includes the eight UBooks, the QBank, 450 concept check questions and two UWorld full-lengths, which is a complete content-and-practice package for less than Blueprint's cheapest course. We keep the full UWorld grid, renewal prices and refund fees on a separate UWorld MCAT price page.
Is UWorld or Blueprint better for the MCAT?
UWorld is better for learning from your mistakes, because its explanations are long, illustrated and walk through why every wrong choice fails. Blueprint is better for test simulation, because it sells more full-length exams and its score reports break performance down by AAMC reasoning skill. Neither replaces the AAMC material, which both vendors tell you to save for the final weeks.
The practical split most students land on is UWorld for daily question work during content review and Blueprint full-lengths for the stretch between content review and the AAMC exams. That combination costs $638 at the shortest terms ($339 plus $299), so it only makes sense if you plan to use both properly. If you can afford one, pick by where you lose points: content gaps point to UWorld, pacing and endurance point to Blueprint.
How many questions and practice exams you get
| Item | UWorld MCAT | Blueprint MCAT |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised question count | 3,000+ | 5,000+ (including 1,200 discrete and passage-based sets and 40+ new CARS passages) |
| Full-length exams | 2 in Core and Comprehensive; the QBank card lists a practice exam | 5 in the paid plan, plus 1 in the free account |
| Official AAMC exams | 7, in Comprehensive only | Not included |
| AI tutor | UAsk | Blue |
| Books | 6 science + 2 CARS, print and digital | With courses |
Two cautions on counts. UWorld's product cards say 3,000+ questions, but the fine print directly under its purchase grid reads "Total QBank Questions: 1,816", and UWorld does not explain the difference. Blueprint's own comparison table says UWorld offers one full-length exam "only with a course", which is out of date: UWorld now lists two in its Core and Comprehensive courses. Treat both vendors' comparison claims about each other with the same suspicion you would give an ad, and use the free trials to look at the questions yourself.
Which is cheaper, UWorld or Blueprint MCAT?
Blueprint is cheaper if you only want practice, and UWorld is cheaper if you want a course. For practice, $299 for six months of Blueprint works out at about $50 a month against $65 a month for UWorld's 180-day QBank. For a course with books, UWorld Core at $599 undercuts Blueprint's Self-Paced course, which was advertised from $999 on its MCAT homepage this month against a $1,499 regular price (its courses page showed "from $1,199" at the same time, so check the figure at checkout).
The costs people forget sit around the edges. UWorld renewals run $29 for a week up to $259 for a year, but only before your plan expires, after which you pay full price again. A 90-day UWorld QBank plus a 30-day renewal is $438 for 120 days, one dollar less than the full-year plan, so if you are not sure of your test date, the 360-day plan at $439 is the safer buy. Blueprint's monthly plan at $99 is the most flexible option, and it gets expensive fast: four months costs $396, more than the $299 six-month plan.
Refunds and financing
This is where the two differ most. All Blueprint practice test sales are final, even if you never open an exam. UWorld will consider a refund within one week of activation or of receiving books if you have used no more than 10% of the course, keeps a 10% fee (minimum $10) plus shipping, and charges $140 if you redeemed an AAMC exam or $300 if you opened the AAMC Prep Hub. If you are unsure, start either vendor's free trial first and buy only when you know you will use the product.
Both sell financing at checkout: UWorld through Affirm with a soft credit check and a US bank account, Blueprint with pay-over-time plans advertised from 0% APR. The rate you are offered depends on your credit file, so if you are a student with a thin history, it is worth checking what is holding your credit score down before you apply, rather than taking whatever rate the checkout offers.
Which one to buy
If you are starting content review and want one purchase, buy the UWorld Core Prep Course. It is the cheapest complete package in this comparison and its explanations are the reason most students pay for UWorld at all. If you already have content books and need to practice timing and endurance, buy Blueprint's six-month Practice Tests and Qbank for $299. If you have the budget for a guided course with live teaching, Blueprint's Live Online and 515+ courses are the option UWorld does not sell (every plan and access length is on our Blueprint MCAT prep price page, and the course-level matchup is in Kaplan vs Blueprint MCAT). And whatever you buy, add the AAMC Online-Only Bundle ($405 regular price, one year) for the final four to six weeks; the MCAT practice test page covers how to sequence the official exams.
One gap is left by both: when you have worked through every question a bank has on the topic you keep missing, there is nothing new to practice on. Aspirants.ai fills that. It writes new MCAT-style questions on the exact topic or passage type you choose, explains every answer choice and answers follow-ups at any hour, from $24 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month. The quiz at the top of this page runs on MCAT content, so you can see the format before you pay. If you are also comparing UWorld's other products, our UWorld cost breakdown covers the USMLE and NCLEX banks, and the UWorld alternative page lays out what else competes with it.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the UWorld MCAT QBank?
The UWorld MCAT QBank costs $339 for 90 days, $389 for 180 days and $439 for 360 days, read from gradschool.uworld.com on September 27, 2026. The 180 and 360-day plans include one reset. Each card advertises 3,000+ questions, but the fine print under the purchase grid lists 1,816 total QBank questions, so weigh that against Blueprint's 5,000+ for $299 over six months.
Is Blueprint MCAT worth it?
Blueprint's $299 six-month Practice Tests and Qbank is worth it if you need more full-length practice than the AAMC material provides, because it adds five exams and 5,000+ questions at about $50 a month. Its courses are worth it mainly if you want live instruction, which UWorld does not offer.
Does UWorld MCAT come with full-length exams?
Yes. The Core and Comprehensive Prep Courses include two full-length UWorld MCAT practice exams, and the QBank card lists a UWorld practice exam as well. Only the Comprehensive course includes the seven official AAMC practice exams.
Can you get a refund from Blueprint MCAT?
No, not on practice tests. Blueprint states that all sales of its MCAT practice tests are final and no refunds are issued, even if you do not access some or all of the exams. Use the free account and its one full-length exam to decide before buying.
Should I use UWorld and Blueprint together?
Many students do: UWorld for question work during content review, Blueprint for full-length exams before the AAMC material. At the shortest terms the pair costs $638. If budget is tight, one of them plus the $405 AAMC bundle covers what most high scorers used.
