Themis bar prep and Themis bar review cost, $1,895 to $2,995 by plan
Themis sells one full bar review course, so the price question looks simple. It is not. The figure you pay depends on whether you pay in full or put $25 down, which exam you sit, whether a law firm is paying, and which discount or deposit credit you qualify for. This page puts every figure Themis publishes in one place for the law student or graduate who has Themis on the shortlist and is about to enroll.
- Freshly generated MBE-style questions on the subject you keep missing
- Every answer choice explained, plus follow-up questions at any hour
- One plan from $24/mo billed yearly or $49 month to month, next to whichever bar course you buy

The short answer
Themis Bar Review costs $1,895 if you pay the full tuition now for a 2027 exam, $2,095 if you put $25 down and pay the rest later, and $2,995 at list price. The same $1,895 applies to the 2028 and 2029 exams with $25 down, and the NextGen course is priced the same as the legacy course. Every self-pay plan gives 4 months of access. The course for international candidates and LLM students costs $2,795 to $3,395 with 10 months of access, and the California Attorney Exam course costs $1,795 plus $40 shipping. Prices were read from themisbar.com on September 29, 2026. Themis is now a UWorld company, so the UWorld MBE QBank is included. Aspirants.ai is the low-cost add-on: an AI tutor from $24 a month billed yearly that writes new MBE-style questions on the subject you keep missing.
What Themis charges for each self-pay plan
Themis lists one course at $2,995 and discounts it in three ways depending on how and when you pay. For a 2027 exam, paying the whole tuition now costs $1,895, a saving of $1,100. Choosing the $25-down option for the same 2027 exam costs $2,095, which is still $900 under list but $200 more than paying in full. For a 2028 or 2029 exam, $25 down locks the $1,895 price. Themis says no contract is required for the $25 deposit, but to keep the promotional tuition you have to make the payments on the schedule set at enrollment. Every one of these plans includes the same 4 months of access: March to July for a July exam, and November to February for a February exam.
- 2027 exam, pay in full now: $1,895
- 2027 exam, $25 down: $2,095
- 2028 and 2029 exams, $25 down: $1,895
- List price: $2,995, 4 months of access on every plan
Why the $1,776 price you may have seen is gone
Several pages still quote Themis at $1,776. That figure came from a Themis offer to lock in a 2027 or 2028 course by paying in full before July 7, 2026. The offer has ended, although the pop-up announcing it still loaded on themisbar.com on September 29. The price you can actually buy at today is $1,895 in full. A second stale figure also circulates: some comparison posts put Themis at $2,895. The current list price on the enrollment grid is $2,995. When you compare bar courses, use the price on the enroll button, not the one in a banner or a year-old review.
- $1,776 was a pay-in-full offer that ended July 7, 2026
- $2,895 is an older list price, the current list is $2,995
- Buy from the enrollment grid, not the pop-up
What the $1,895 includes
Themis is one course, not a ladder of tiers, so every self-pay student gets the same materials. Its planner assigns practice from a bank of more than 4,000 MBE questions, including 1,350+ questions licensed from the NCBE, and because Themis is part of UWorld, the UWorld MBE QBank is built into the course for unlimited custom practice tests. Essays get two layers of grading: UGrader, a closed AI grader that returns feedback almost immediately, and a dedicated attorney grader. The course also has an adaptive study calendar, spaced-repetition flashcards called ReadyDecks, hard copy books, simulated exams and state-specific content. The NextGen bar prep course sits at the same price as the legacy course.
- 4,000+ MBE questions, 1,350+ licensed from the NCBE
- UWorld MBE QBank included, no extra charge
- Unlimited essay grading by AI plus a dedicated attorney grader
- Hard copy books, adaptive calendar, flashcards, mobile app
Discounts, deposit credits and the two different numbers
Themis gives $100 off to members of Phi Alpha Delta and the Military Spouse J.D. Network, and $100 off to active, reserve and retired military. Only one discount applies per enrollment. It also runs a public interest tuition program with its own application, and it tells students facing financial hardship to contact their law school's Themis director. If you already paid a deposit to another full-service bar review provider, Themis credits it toward tuition, but its own site gives two different caps: the bar review pricing page says up to $1,000, while the FAQ says up to $250. If you are switching from another course, email proof of the deposit and ask Themis to confirm the amount in writing before you pay.
- $100 off for PAD, MSJDN and military members, one discount per enrollment
- Public interest tuition program by application
- Competitor deposit credit: up to $1,000 on the pricing page, up to $250 in the FAQ
If your law firm is paying
Students whose firms pay use Themis's firm billing route instead of the self-pay grid, and the firm course is richer. Law Firm Plus includes everything in the standard course plus up to 6 months of access before the exam, an MBE-focused Multistate Bootcamp workshop series and a bar admissions briefing. The enrollment form also offers a technology package that depends on the firm's agreement, from a $350 Visa gift card or a silver iPad up to a $1,100 Visa gift card. The form states the catch plainly: if you do not accept the firm's offer or the firm does not pay, you owe the tuition yourself.
- Law Firm Plus: up to 6 months of access and a Multistate Bootcamp
- Technology package from $350 up to $1,100, depending on the firm
- You owe tuition if the firm does not pay
International, LLM and California Attorney Exam prices
Themis sells a separate, longer course for LLM students and foreign-trained lawyers sitting the New York, California, Texas, District of Columbia, Colorado or Washington bar. It runs 10 months part time and adds an overview of the US legal system. The February 2027 course is $3,395 with a $295 lock-in (list $3,895). The July 2027 course is $2,795 with a $295 lock-in, and the 2028 and 2029 courses are $2,795 with $25 down. For attorneys taking the California Attorney Exam, Themis sells a shorter course with lectures, 8 graded essays and access to academic attorneys for $1,795 plus a $40 book shipping fee, enrolled by contacting Themis.
- International and LLM, February 2027: $3,395, 10 months
- International and LLM, July 2027 onward: $2,795, 10 months
- California Attorney Exam course: $1,795 plus $40 shipping
The Pass or a Free Repeat guarantee, read closely
Themis calls its promise the Pass or a Free Repeat Guarantee. If you are a first-time Themis student and do not pass, Themis gives you the course again for the next administration of the same bar exam at no cost. It is a free repeat, not a refund: you do not get tuition back, and it does not cover the bar exam fee, which your jurisdiction charges again. Barbri's guarantee works the same way (repeat the course without paying tuition again), but it also requires you to complete the course and excludes supplements. If you are a repeat taker who used Themis before, you are not a first-time Themis taker, so check eligibility before you count on it.
- Free repeat of the course for the next sitting of the same exam
- First-time Themis takers only
- No tuition refund, bar exam fees not covered
What Themis pass rates do and do not tell you
Themis publishes first-time taker pass rates by state, which few competitors do, and the July 2024 table is useful when you read all of it. In most listed states Themis students beat the statewide first-time rate: California 79% against 68%, Oregon 87% against 75%, Indiana 91% against 82%. In two states they did not: Minnesota 81% against 88% statewide, and Tennessee 76% against 81%. Students who completed at least 75% of the coursework passed at higher rates everywhere, from 81% to 98%. These are Themis's own figures for ABA-accredited J.D. graduates, and students whose results Themis could not confirm are counted as failures. Completion is the lever you control.
- Most states: Themis first-time rate above the statewide rate
- Minnesota and Tennessee: below the statewide rate in July 2024
- 75%+ course completion: 81% to 98% pass
Where Aspirants.ai fits next to Themis
Themis and UWorld give you a full course and a large licensed question bank for four months. What neither can do is keep generating fresh questions on the one rule you keep getting wrong, at 11 pm, and explain why each wrong answer is wrong. That is what Aspirants.ai does, from $24 a month billed yearly with no contract. Use it alongside Themis to drill weak MBE subjects before your assigned practice sets, or after your access window closes if you are waiting to repeat. It is not a bar review course and it does not replace graded essays, but it costs less per month than one Themis discount.
- Freshly generated questions on your weakest MBE subject
- Every answer choice explained, follow-ups at any hour
- From $24/mo billed yearly, cancel any time
